微软官方路线图:“Windows 8”2012年面世

就在Windows 7 RTM开始分发之际，微软意大利透露的一份官方路线图显示，开发代号“Windows 8”计划于2012年发布。这其实是一份服务器系统路线图，Windows Server 2003/2008都被标注为重大发布(Major Release)，Windows Server 2003 R2/2008 R2以及Windows 7是中间性升级(Release Update)，“Windows 8”属于重大发布之列(确切地说应该是Windows 8 Server)，这么说来系统核心版本号应该是NT7.0(Vista是NT6.0、Win7是NT6.1)。
值得注意的是，每次重大发布距离上次升级的时间都是三年，比如从Server 2003 R2到Server 2008、从Server 2008 R2到“Windows 8”。
按照微软近年来的开发理念，客户端和服务器操作系统会齐头并进，“Windows 8”应该同样也会如此，所以三年后我们就能看到它和相应的“Windows Server 2012”了。
